The male was introduced on April 6th.
I only witnessed copulation once on April 16th - but given how she looks this morning, I suspect they copulated fairly early on in the game.

This is the same female that gave me a clutch of 10 eggs last year (wild mating - collected gravid).

The male was collected this year, a few days before introducing him to the female.

I'm hoping for 14 eggs this year, but whatever she gives me will be fine

What are you going to do with all those babies?

How long does it take before they can go into copulation? 2 years?

Also, how do I attach a picture to a reply?

I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with this years clutch.
There's a researcher in georgia that might be getting some of them if her research project is approved.

I will be holding back some as future breeders.

What the researcher doesn't take (if she takes any) and what I don't hold back will be gifted out.

Assuming Fish & Game lets me gift them to hobbyists outside of california - four are potentially spoken for (two to someone in Montana who has first priority, two to someone in Georgia - a different someone than the researcher). After those four, two others potentially spoken for within California.

I believe that captive bred alligator lizards can mate their second season, definitely third if not second.

I held back 2 pairs last year, so next year I *may* have three breeding pairs instead of just one.

To attach an image - it has to be hosted on the web somewhere, such as photobucket.

Then you use standard UBB image code -

except without the spaces

I know you have an urge to give me some but just try to restrain yourself ok! :D

If you have a pair that is female and male, will be more than happy to take it off your hands. I live in California.

Does the male actually sticks its hemipenis inside the female because when I see animals do it, they are on top of each other but I don't see how copulation can actually happens.

The male bites the females head and holds her, and aligns his body along the side of hers.
