G.Sila.. Or G.Wislizenii...?

RT May 06, 2007 11:05 AM

Can anyone clarify the difference between G.Sila and G.Wislizenii for me?
I have had a lizard for about 4 years that was sold as a Leopard Lizard... But given no species for her.
After looking on net and in books I have found she has markings of G.Wislizenii... But the size and shape (esp. head) of G.Sila....
Have pictures but no image URL...

Your lizard appears to be G.sila from pattern(which is highly variable in Leopard Lizards), and more powerfully from the blunter and less elongated head and snout than is charecteristic of Gambelia wislizenii.

It should be noted that Gambelia is a federally "endangered" species. This means ownership requires proof of legal origin.
