i just got a chinese water dragon last week, and ive been having major problems keeping humidity up, it drops really quick, we try spraying his cage as often as possible, fri i was at pet store and saw a waterfall that i thought might help, so i got it home and set up in his cage, well the problem i have is as he climbs his tail will hang over the edge and he drians the entire water fall into his tank, i am leaving here in a few to get a real humidifier, what shoud i do to help him other then the humidifer?

Lol, I have heard of that! I don't know what you can do about the waterfall without seeing it - your pic didn't show up for me. Many of us use ultrasonic humidifiers (Walgreens makes a good one) that have a removable port so that you can run tubbing up to the viv and pipe in the humidity.

You will find that if you leave it on all the time, you will be forever refilling it and it will soak your viv. I have mine set up to run for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. I still put extra water in the viv itself about once a week to keep the substrate moist. I do like to let it dry out a bit so I won't get any mold or mildew.

Also, you need to clean out the humidifier at least every six months. I find mine gets this slimy stuff growing in it - ewwww.

i returned the waterfall and got a actual humidifer, it works rather well, it kept my tank at about 60ish all day even with heat lamp on, but its a non mister so its rather nice

what kind of light are you using? you can use a partial glass lid with screen where the UVB or backing lights are and that shoudl help. also, if you want to get a little more elaborate, false bottom tanks work good, it's just eggcrate on top of 2-3" PVC where water can collect. what kind of substrate are you using? if you have multiple layers that helps, like a layer of gravel, dirt and then moss or something, or reptibark hold humidity well. if you still have trouble keeping it up, just try soaking it every day and help it shed. what exactly do you mean "trouble shedding" , is it sticking to his toes or something. in that case just soak him and pull the skin off slowly in the water. if u do it too fast it will just tear and the skin will get stuck on it's toes or tail. make sure you feed and hydrate it good all the time, but esp. during shedding. the bigger it is the easier the skin pops off.
