I just got my Pentax K10D and have been tinkering around with it. I've just got the 18-55 lens for it at the moment (just ordered the Sigma 105mm macro). Anyway, I've been using the pop up flash (an actual flash unit is in the plan once I can recooperate from this investment..), and I'm getting a halo effect when taking pictures of my dart frogs. I'll attach a couple pictures here. You can see what I'm talking about with my vents. The stripes on the frogs have no integradation between the black and yellow, but on these pictures, there's a "fuzz" on the edge of the stripes. Any idea on how to correct that?

These pictures are cropped, by the way. Looks like KS pixelated the pictures a little bit, but you can still see what I mean.

From the way you explain it, it makes it sound like arpeture. But from what it looks like it seems as if there is to much noise, it zig zags in blocks like the paterns were outlined in paintbrush. That from what I have been gathering is ISO.

I have a big chance at beeing wrong tho I am new to this all.

looks like fog on the lens to me. Small working distance and humid conditions will cause condensation, which usually looks just like what you have posted. Try working in a drier area, or wipe the lens between shots.

I'm nowhere near an expert, but that was the first thing it looked like to me. Did you just take the camera from an air conditioned room and go stick the lens inside a frog enclosre?

If so, maybe let the camera sit in the same room for a while to warm up, and then wipe the lens if necessary...

What I was refering to was the KS pixelateing the pics, I now must agree with the rest.

Either way I think they look beutifull in theyr own way regardless.
