TX alligator lizards

ahamp May 09, 2007 05:25 PM

Hi,
What is the captive status of TX alligator lizards? Anybody breeding them anymore? I had some back in the early 1990s and would like to find someone breeding them.

Thanks,
AH

Hey
I was wondering the same thing. I just acquired a large male a couple days ago. Its 20 inches long. A big boy. He is really cool and am looking for a mate for him. Ive been looking forever to get this one so hopefully I can find a female easier. But unlikely. They are very hard to find in captivity.

Thanks
Andy

Too bad. There were a few people breeding them in TX at one time. I had some captive produced babies that picked up mites from another new arrival in the collection. They did not survive treatment.
Have you bred your spiny lizards?

I have not seen any breeding activity. I hibernated them outside in a year-round pen and now there still out there but havent seen anything yet.

I'm working on it-not sure if I'll have any surplus this year, but at the very least next season....Our group has 4 adults and 3 juveniles.
