Keeping Two Tegus Together

reptilenerd May 13, 2007 01:28 AM

Well as of right now I have an Argentine B/W Tegu named Tigger. I just love him and Tegus in general and have grown more interested in them. Well I am now thinkig of purchasing another Argentine B/W or a Red. Is it possible to house the new Tegu and Tigger together( after quarantine)if they are the same size/age? Tigger is only around 5 months so he is still young.

Also I was planning on keeping Tigger in an 8x4x4 ft cage, could both Tegus be kept comfortably in there or should I step it up to 10x4x4? Thank You Very Much!!!

If they are around the same size and age either a red or a B&W should be find togeather. Later you'll have to worry when breeding season comes around though, unless thats the intended goal. As for the furture cage size, 8x4x4 is fine but as far as reptiles go, bigger is always better for cages.

The Tegu will of course be of similar, I hope they'll go good together and I won't have to seperate them. If they do breed I'll surely be excited! Having some B/W babies or even Red x B/W will be so exciting! The cage I might step it up to a 10x4x4 to allow the Tegus to have some more space.

Thanks for the help!

I dont know if BW and Reds breed actully, the only hybrid i've seen have been a red and blue cross, man i wish i could get ahold of one of those. But if u get anothr BW and temps are right then expect some eggs around this time of year, lol.

Well i be darn, lol. Like i said i didn't hear about it and i guess i'll eat my words. Thats is a nice looking lizard too. Man wish i had room for another, then i'd get a female and breed her to my blue male, lol a bluexredxblack cross, that would be sweet.
