Pacman not eating

jeneef May 16, 2007 03:03 PM

My Pacman Frog stopped eating, I think he is too big for the prey I'm offering him. He seems to have stopped eating crickets and super worms.
I have tried to feed him a live pinky, but he just let it die in his cage. I currently have some very large silkworms in with him but he has ignored them for 3 days, he is just sitting in his aquarium rock and water-filled bowl while they crawl around the rim in front of him. He has not eaten or deficated for a few weeks now and I am getting worried. Any suggestions?

how big/old is it? are the temps right? if nothing much has changed, then maybe he's just going into a fast (esp if he's adult) or...he could be impacted... what kind of substrated do you use

I would say he is about the size of an adult rat. I have him in a small tank lined with paper towels with a waterbowl full of aquarium rock and water, he hangs out in the bowl except for when he gets out to poop.

hm..wait awhile, make sure temps are right and try again. or you can take him to the vet to check for impaction

I have a Pacman who was given to me because he wouldn't eat, he didn't for 9 months... the guy kept him in gravel, so what I think happened was he accidentally ate a few pieces and became impacted. Anyway, he eventually passed through and now he eats a mouse about every 2 weeks. I also keep him on coconut fiber, you should try something like that where he can actually burrow and feel more secure. It's also good for humidity. Good luck!
