Monitor in Casselberry - HELP!

onedge30 May 27, 2007 08:52 PM

Hello,

Has anyone from the CFHS been contacted by the Casselberry Police Dept. regarding this monitor and trying to capture it?

I just heard on the breaking news, in Orlando, that they are now shooting at it. And briefly talking with the Casselberry Police, they have been told by the FL Fish and Wildlife to shoot it.

Is there anything we can do to stop this? This seems to be based on FEAR. And the "unsupported" threat that it will attack small children. I have told the police dept. that it will run from humans. And when in the history of Orlando attacks, has there been a listed "monitor lizard" attack. I know of a LOT more Pitbull dog attacks but they are not shooting them on site!!!!

I am trying to get info on what has been done to capture this monitor and is it just going to end this way.

Sincerely,

Jeff Kapp
CFHS Orlando

I havent heard anything about that moniter in a long time, I wonder what became of it. And for the record i have had pitbulls my entire life and never had a problem with them being aggresive not so much as a growl. I have now a lab and he growls whenever he sees another dog i never had that problem with a pit people that say pitbulls are bad dogs are just as neglagent as the peices of crap that breed them to fight and be aggresive i dont think any animal should be shot ever. There alot of people that are more agresive than pitbulls is it ok to shoot them?

hmmm....
well. i actually live in casselberry and have plenty of experience with many different herps including monitors over the years. i'm just a hobbiest but still. i would gladly offer my services to help capture him, but honestly wouldn't know where to go to start and not get in the way or get into trouble with the law in the process.
i am just now starting to try to get into the herp scene in other ways than just sales and breeding. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks...
