feeding baby softshell?

Ryan Shackleton May 27, 2007 10:37 PM

My brother caught a baby softshell when he was ut fishing(about 2 inch shell diameter). Wondering what they eat at this small size-until this the smallest I have seen was about twice this size-a lot of the minnows I buy are longer than this turtle's shell.Would simple turtle sticks be good or bugs/small baitfish, or something else entirely? He has had it about a week and been giving it bits of fish, before letting it go again I want to give it a few "proper" meals.

yeah, insects are good. also earthworms and pellet foods like reptomin. along with the fish you have been giving it. guppies or small rosie reds would probably be the right size for it.
