Filter for Tadpoles?

modsquad5150 May 30, 2007 11:09 PM

Is it a necessity to use a filter for tadpoles? I am hatching growing up some fowler toad tadpoles. So far I have them in some natural river water, with an aeration system set up to keep oxygen in the water. Can I just do water changes every few days with some spring water, or do I need a filter? If so, what is a good filter to use for small tadpoles? Any advice is appreciated.

no, a filter isn't necesary, esp. for toad tads. i've raised a LOT of tads, of the american toad and they are very similiar. i just left a big bin out side with the tads in it, filled it up with water, put it in the garage so it wouldn't overheat. put in an air stone and some driftwood and fed them every day. i never once changed the water and 27/30 morphed into lil' toads. good luck!
