Well I've been hoping to find one for years but have never been lucky enough. Still not lucky enough to find one on my own but an old neighbor who recently moved out did fine one at there new house. He called me up last night and started to describe it so I headed over and this is what he had.

I'd like to keep it if I can get it to eat, any suggestions on what i should try? I was thinking of tossing a few crickets in with it.

Where do you live at?

That looks like a coral bellied ringneck.

NorthWestern Ringnecks...

I and a friend of mine were working with them a couple years ago.

I say they're not worth it...

We couldn't pinpoint a good way to keep them.

I had 2 pairs breeding.

But only 1 of 4 snakes would eat. He had similar success, we couldn't get all of the snakes to feed on obvious prey items. Seems they feed in cycles over the year. I assume you may have better luck. But after a while we gave up on those.

I've heard the northwest ringnecks prefer garter snakes, maybe try to find some really small babies or some scented pinky tails.

I don't know if they "prefer" garter snakes... But those are one of the items we succeeded in getting them to eat.

I had 1 adult female that would take baby brown snakes.... But not in a consistent pattern. One a month at most.

I live in PA so the species of Ringneck is different however I have personally seen in the wild a Ringneck eat a worm. So far I have only had the privilege of seeing two in the wild one I caught and other that I didn’t want to disturbed because it was eating.
Hope this helps.

I live in PA... I've worked with many many northern ringencks.

They are very different from western sub-species of ringnecks.
