Went down to SFBA for weekend.
Came back home tonight to 14 healthy eggs.

These eggs are the product of captive mating - same female gave me 10 eggs last year from wild mating.

Male used was WC this spring, introduced to female shortly before easter. I witnessed copulation on April 16 but I'm guessing they went at it before then.

I'll try to post pics tomorrow for those interested.

Hopefully in 45 to 60 days (last year took 46 days) I get 100% hatch

What type of substrate is that?

It is vermiculite -

I bought a huge bag of it (enough to last me many years) from Home Depot for about $20 - certitified asbestos free (important as some brands at least use to contain asbestos). Asbestos is probably bad for reptile eggs and certainly bad for people to breathe while preparing the incubation medium.

I mixed it 1:1 by weight with water, actually I added a little extra water because the tub is deep so a little extra water is in the lower levels to help keep humidity up.

Some people like to mix a little perlite in with the vermiculite for better air flow but I want to see a valid study and not just anecdotal evidence showing it increases hatch rate before I believe it actually does.

So, since I am a loyal memeber of this alligator forum lately, you are going to give me a pair of female and male right? :D:D

Possibly - there are some other people ahead including a scientific researcher who may want some quantity.
