someone brought me thier female sulcata how is 50 pounds or so. She was brought to me to "fix" her. Seems her owner also has a larger male and houses them together and the male got too agressive and rammed the girl. I have had her to the vet this am. but she is reluctant to stick her head completely out so we can see if there are wounds there too. The wounds were dressed by the vet and will be tended to by me but does anyone have experience with this and if so what did you or your vets use both topically and for antibiodics? I have advized the owner about housing them seperately and that a smaller male would be a better match if she insist on breeding. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HELLO
THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE FEMALE IS TO SMALL TO GET AWAY
I KEEP THE SMALLER FEMALES IN THEIR OWN PEN FOR THIS REASON
WHEN THEY GET ABOUT 16 INCHES I WILL LET THEM OUT WITH THE BIGGER TORTS.
I WOULD SOAK HER AND THEN TREAT THE WOUNDS
THEY USUALLY DUMP THEIR WATER RESERVE WHEN THEY GET WHOOPED
I USE BETADINE I PROBABLY SPELLED THAT WRONG BUT IT IS AVAILABLE AT THE GROCERY STORE IN THE WOMAN SECTION.
I USE THIS AND IT SEEMS TO WORK WELL
THE VET RECOMMENDED IT A LONG TIME AGO
SHE WILL NEED TO BE SEPERATED AND MONITORED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS
I WOULD NOT PUT HER BACK WITH THAT MALE UNTILE SHE IS ALOT BIGGER
OR MAKE SURE SHE HAS ROOM TO RUN AWAY AND HIDE FROM THE MALE
A SMALL PEN WITH NO HIDE SPOTS WILL LEAD TO REPEAT PROBLEMS
I HAVE HAD SMALLER MALES HAVE THIS HAPPEN ALSO
HOPE SHE IS OKAY

thanks for your advice. Betadine is what I used as per my vets recommendation. She is not my tort unfortunately but my advice to the owner was not to put her back with the male and to divide the pen for her. Her human owner seems to have some trouble with the idea that she doesn't "miss" her fella. This tort is 50 pounds or so but her bo is bigger. She healed up her wounds fine and has since gone home. I HOPE her owner listened to advice and didn't just stick her back in with him! I have my fingers crossed for her.
