Fire belly toad has a swollen abdomen

kendallthegreat Jun 17, 2007 04:56 PM

I have tree fire belly toads. Two males and one female. The female has become quite plump in her abdomen. The other two are much thinner and they all eat about the same amount of food. I feed them every other day, if they are hungry. They have a regular diet of waxworms and crickets. She just laid eggs so I don't think she should be so large. I have been reading up and I found a lot of sites that say having a swollen abdomen is fairly common, however I can't seem to find one that tells me what I can do. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just leave her be. Females are naturally larger than males. As long as she's eating and acting normally than don't worry.
