I have a West TX longnosed snake, and I need to lizard-scent mice. About how long do longnoses take to switch over?
Anyone?

Anywhere from immediately to never. (Not a joke)

Years ago i captured two longnose in our fire station in the desert. One ate a live pinky right off. The other prefered scorpions, of course i'd trim the sting off. Did not like the idea of a sting in the eye. We had lots of scorps.
Hi
I have a pair of longnoses. They both ate unscented pinkies three days after I captured them. I don't know if this is rare or not but they both ate the first time without any trouble.

I got a rather emaciated Longnose from a couple of friends of mine out @ Jawbone. We believe she is a female who just laid. She ate a scented fuzzy the first time offered. I'm wondering if the prevalence of rodents in the area dictate whether you will be able to switch them easily or not.

I've always wanted to keep longnose snakes, because they're beautiful, and very unique to me. The feeding problem always kind of kept me away from them though. I'll be up to it one of these days

Hey
Where I caught my pair of longnoses there were lots of mice and they ate mice with no problem the first time I tried feeding them. Maybe this does have something to do with the ease of switching them to mice.

It's been said that longnose from south Texas take mice readily-but I can tell you from experience that those from the Trans-Pecos can be stubborn. I've found the mediterranean gecko to be a good feeder/scenting lizard for Rhinocheilus....
