i have heard that my cwd female should have had her first clutch by now. she is now over 3 years old, still not fully grown, all her friends have overtaken her on growth and i am slightly worried about her. she is not eggbound and although the male has shown every interest in her they still have not bred. any ideas?

Hi Bathory,
Egg-laying and Mating are two diff topics all together. First, IF you are sure that your female is three years old, then yes, you could expect her to be laying eggs during the season, which has just ended btw. They usually start anywhere from 18 mo to 3 yrs, depending on growth and on nutrition etc. However, a gravid female may end up re-absorbing the eggs instead of laying them.

As far as mating goes, you can help things along by changing the temps and lighting in the Fall/Winter to get them ready, then upping them again in the Spring.

I just hatched some babies, and they are about 12 weeks now.
