Texas tegus?

JL1981 Jun 21, 2007 10:09 PM

I was recently at the Hamburg show in PA, and I saw a vendor selling "texas tegus" which looked just like a tegu and were about 8 inches from tip of snout to the tip of the tail, and he said they were full grown. They were about 25 bucks, and he said they were from Texas. To my knowledge, I have never heard of tegus occurring in the United States. Has anyone heard of a Texas tegu?

Just a fancy name for some kind of cnemidophorus sp. which are teiids (relatives of tegus)
