Louisiana roads?

Shaky Jun 23, 2007 06:49 PM

Is it legal to roadhunt in LA?
I'm a New Orleans native, but haven't been around in over ten years. Since I left, I've been herping up a storm, but have never roadhunted anywhere in LA. I'm trying to get my cousin in Slidell more interested in herps. He has kings and such on his property from time to time.
If anyone has experience and could offer suggestions, please email me at

Shaky,
I'm not sure about the legality of road herping here. In my town (Lake Charles area), legality seems to be at the whim of the police force. They've never seemed to care about anyone catching reptiles, but if they see you at night, they'll assume you're up to no good and harass you.
I notice you're involved in the Austin Herp Society. I'm about to move to Austin, but will occasionally make trips back home to visit my family and do some non-road herping. My brother, who also lives here, herps with me. I'd like to find some Austin area herpers. Contact me if you want to discuss in more detail.
