Pacman frog refusing crickets

somedude2 Jun 25, 2007 08:51 AM

Hi, a few days ago I took in a rescue pacman from who had been fed crickets when it was young, but once it reached a certain size, it was fed only rodents and fishes. I have left it alone for a few days and put in crickets daily but he hasn't eaten any. However, when I drop a mouse in there and fish, he eats them immediately. I'm trying to get him on a more healthy diet with only occasional rodents and fishes, but he won't have anything to do with the crickets. In fact, I tried to tong feed him the crickets with no luck, after waiting forever he bit the cricket and then spat it out, removing it from his mouth with his hand.

How can I convert him back to crickets? Is it just a waiting/hunger game?

i'm not an expert but i think most pacman just eat whatever is most frequent in there diet. mine only eats very large crickets but nothing smaller. she has refused any rodents or fish i've tried introducing. i think it depends on just the individual pacman.

Ok so given that crickets plus an occasional rodent healthier than all rodents all the time, how to I try to get him to eat more crickets, despite his individual tastes?
