Different Sub Species

If you put in two different sub species of Alligator Lizards, will they mate or fight? Example: Northern Southern

Northern and Southern are different species all together.

I've kept them together before w/o them fighting. I suspect that where they overlap in the wild, they sometimes can be found together under the same cover.
