I'm interested in getting some but so far every source I've asked stated that they were not legal to posses in their state of residency. I'm in PA would I be able to keep & breed these great creatures?

in Florida. BUT, you are limited to one per person (I think it is only one)and they cannot be sold or traded.
Of course, they cannot be collected from protected areas either.
The same goes for alligator snappers and Barbour's map turtles.

If I am not mistaken or if the laws have changed recently, I think the possession limit for those three species in FL is two each (without a permit) and in addition to that they are NOT allowed to be sold.

I think that may be right except in the case of the alligator snapper. I am pretty sure the limit is still one on them.
None of these species have been allowed for sale for years.
