E. kingii hatched

aliceinwl Jul 02, 2007 01:58 AM

My madrean eggs hatched last week. I had 7 of the 8 hatch successfully. I incubated them in vermiculite at room temp like I've done for southerns.

The 8th pipped, but never made out of the egg. After a several hours of not seeing any activity I widened the slit so that he would be able to get out, but I think he was already dead. I openned the egg fully the next morning and he looked perfectly formed, but was dead. He's now part of the preserved herp collection at one of the local universities.

The other seven seem to be doing fine and are eating like pigs. I'll try to get some pictures up.

Yes, it would be great to see your pictures.

If my clutch hatch, are there any other preparations I need to keep in mind beside feeding them pinhead crickets?

What about environment? Funky did suggest an environment that is not too humid but semi-humid.
