Alligator Lizard - Environment Friendly?

Jah Jul 10, 2007 03:48 AM

This is my set up for my four Alligator Lizards. For bedding, is it ok to use grass? Or should i use something more comfortable and suitable for them? I need all the info I can get for their environment.

I would use either wood chips (marketed as sani-chips) and moss or coconut fiber.

They like to crawl underneath the grass.... would they be able to do that with any of those?

Absolutely with coconut fiber. If you keep the coconut fiber damp(not wet) and compact, they can even burrow tunnels. They are excellent diggers.

It seems like you leave it outside your house? Becareful of the ants!

BTW... What is the story with the toilet paper roll? Do they wipe themselves? Just kidding.

You haven't toilet trained your lizards yet?

You are joking with me right? I have never heard of toilet training a lizard.

I added the toilet paper role yesterday.... Just wanted to add things to the tank and maybe a tunnel for them.

I cut off the top of the water bottle and they love that. If you look at this picture:

Yeah... I liked your set up.... That's how I got the idea to use the toilet paper roll. I couldn't find any bottles around so I used what I had.
