Could they be fertile?

chantels1 Jul 10, 2007 03:14 PM

My husband brought a female Southern Alligator lizard home in mid May. We kept her as a pet. She looked to be gravid at the time he brought her home and has been growing ever since. We do not have a male, so is it possible that the egg she laid last night will be fertile? I have found that they breed in the spring, but do they normally take this long to lay?

They could be fertile.
If they are white (with slight pink hue) they are fertile.
If they are lemon drop yellow - infertile.

Thank you... I always wanted to know if the yellow egg I found was fertile. This is a picture of it.... I couldn't get a better lighting but it's yellow for sure.
