The best packing method for 06 Boa

iamsnakeshack Jul 10, 2007 07:04 PM

I have received only one snake through the mail and they used Federal Express. The 12” IJ carpet Python was in a cloth snake bag floating in shredded newspaper inside a cardboard box lined with 1” Styrofoam. The box was 10x10x10”. Is this the best way to pack small snakes and do they have enough air for the trip?

I’m getting ready to send a late 06 hog island boa and was wondering the safest way possible. How much to send it cross-country Federal Express Vs Delta dash? An approximant guess will do.

Thanks in advanced for any help!

Here is a link providing, in my opinion, a very good tutorial for shipping herps:
http://www.arbreptiles.com/shipping/index.shtml

Delta Dash runs about $75-$80 and Fedex will run about $50-$60. Keep in mind that you must be certified to ship reptiles through both of these shippers.
