Is there such thing as a tame Coachwhip?

vidusa Jul 12, 2007 08:50 AM

Here is a picture of my western coachwhip. I have 5 I believe are tame. I say believe because they never have tried to bite me. Here is a picture of one of them. I can reach in to get them. Let them run around the floor. Etc. They have never tried to bite. Seem content running through my hands.

Have any of you tamed a coachwhip?

they are nervous, inside the cage when see some body gets the defensive position, but unless you make a very fast movement, start to strike, but once you take it with the hook, stops and become a nice puppy.

spends most of time inside its box, always deposit feces in oposite side of its box.

i offered a mice diet, some times i ofered F/T brown anoles or sceolporus, very common here...

beutiful pink color at the end of its tail.

Have you seen them any other color? Are they common where you live?

its, kind of weird, because all mentovarius i have seen are silver color in the back and light pink at the end of its tail, but this one is alitle dark...

the neonates are brown with stripes close to the head.i have handle snakes of more than 6 ft...silver snakes..with this size they are nice puppies..

i think they are the second most common snakes after pine snakes, even though they are very missunderstanded, people think they strike with ots tail.

Do you ever find Spilotes in Mexico. This one is from Mexico and is one of my favorite color morphs. It lives at Brownsville Zoo. How about Beaded Lizards?

spilotes are from south.

there are helodermas here, "escorpiones" called local, one friend has one, very slow, eat mice, is in the stay room in his house, he teach in a university about poison herpetofauna, he has a micrurus and a crotalus too, some times carry the heloderma in his conferences....
