WD has blocked nostrils help!!

Torah Jul 13, 2007 09:29 AM

I wrote a while back about my lizard getting burnt by climbing in under a boiler.. he lost all his toes.. consequently he appears fine in all things, other than the fact that he gets blocked nostrils which in turn makes him gape.. we've been to the vet who says its not due to infection.. unfortunately when he got burnt.. his face was damaged too, not that u can see it at all now but he does now have unusally small nostrils which tend to get blocked easily.. i try cleaning them out but am not having much success for fear of harming him,.. he doesn't mind when i'm having a go cleaning them.. he stays very still & seems to understand i'm trying to help him.. but i do want to do more for him.. any ideas???

All I can suggest is to keep the humidity up. One of my hatchlings has a mal-formed nose and gapes alot. I notice that she doesn't gape much when I raise the humidity by misting. Makes sense too if you think about it. In dry climates, my nose tends to get all dried out and I find myself breathing thru my mouth at night.

Thanks.. that does make sense tho i usually spray twice a day as it is.. good news is.. Reks has just shed skin off his nose & the nostrils look much bigger & clearer, no more gaping thus far..

thanks for your reply.. they are such a worry
