I just got my paddle tail newt 2 days ago, and he hasn’t eaten anything since then. I’m trying to feed him salamander/newt pellets, but he won’t eat them. Is this normal? Could he just be under stress with his new environment? How long can newts go without eating? I was going to catch some worms from our yard for him to eat, but I can’t find any because it’s been really dry lately and they must be all burrowed in the dirt. What should I do?

they can go a long time, a few months probally if it was previously healthy. try feeding other stuff, i've had like 10 newts and only one ate pellets, and not very often. they like moving stuff. in the wild they aren't going to eat newt pellets. it's normal for it not to be eating them. try feeding crickets, chopped up earthworms, mealworms, snails, bloodworms, briine shrimp...
