Liquid_Metal - Materials for CocoFiber

Jah Jul 15, 2007 06:25 PM

I bought only one block of Coconut Fiber for now because I didn't have much money while at Petco. Anyway I have a picture of my materials based on what you told me. Tell me what you think... I have the small trashcan on the right, the coconut fiber in the middle, and the spray bottle on the left(for moisture). The knife is for cutting the block in half.

Use a saw to cut it cleaner. What is the solution inside the spray bottle?

Just cut the block in half and dump hot water into it. Hot water breaks it up much quicker. Let it sit there for about 30-45 minutes. Try to sipher the water out and hand squeeze the rest into a new container for sun dry. Squeeze as hard as you can.

I don't think I have a saw in the house... is there anything better/easier? For the sun drying... is there any time of how long I should let it sun dry or just I wait till it's dry?

Yes I know but I really wanted to know if you knew how long it takes to dry half the brick..... but I will follow the instructions from your previous thread... You also asked what the solution in the spray bottle was? It's just anti-bacterial soap because the bottle was getting dirty and I had clean it with a brush.

Becareful if you are using a bottle that has soap in it previously. It will take about 1-2 days to dry in this weather. Easily one day such as today.

Yeah... I know but I keeping it in a cool place in my house. Just enough that it doesn't dry up. I have also started drying my Coconut Fiber and waiting every half hour to stir it.

I'm going to throw it out, even though I am watching it from drying up I know I need to get a new spray bottle. I put soap in it for another reason. I had bacteria growing inside the bottle because it was left sitting for months. I clean it completely with a brush but the more I think about I don't want to take my chances. It was green algae that started growing on the bottom, but now I'm thinking of buying the spray bottle from Lowes that you use.

It's drying but it's still damp.... I have been sun drying it since 11am and stirring it every half hour. Is there any easier way to dry this?

No easier way unless you have something that vibrates it. It is looking good and actually, that might be good enough. It can be damp but not wet.

When I said damp, if you touch it, and there is no water on your hands, then that is good.

Just make sure that it is damp or close to dry to prevent bacteria.
