if you thought you were going to get off that easy by posting that picture and ot some kind of story you must be crazy!! (LOL). So what gives? Fill us in. Oviously it looks to be alverezi. So give it up already........

It was worth a shot but I figured you guys would want some info. That is a 100% genetically pure Colima, Mexico locality H.h.horridum! Roughly 1190 kms (~738 miles) by air from the nearest alvarezi location.

Just goes to show you, the animals don't read the guide books. Im thinking someones gotta do some further DNA work, and show that paintjobs alone do not warrant subspecific action...kind of like Gilas...
BTW, Please give some details on your observation; time of day, temperature, was it out on the crawl, under AC, more more more...

Hi all
I do believe that southern H.h.horridum are either intergraded with H.h.alverezi or the same animal. The more north you get the more they look like exasperatum. I have a couple babies that I hatched out this year that should end up looking just like your animal. A beutiful critter regaurdless.
