Albino Red Ears outside in sun safe ?

Bianca Jul 17, 2007 10:11 AM

Hello
A friend in the area who is moving to Hawaii in Aug is giving me her albino red ear male (3 yrs old).
She has him inside in 75 gallon breeder tank with lights, etc . I wanted to keep him outside in screen enclosure in yard with buried kiddie pool and few feet of regular grass/land around the pool just to give him more room larger swim area . My question is if miami sun is safe for an Albino red ear?
I see wild sliders in area canals most released pets that flourish but not sure about an albino .

Any input ,advice would be great .

thanks

You must provide plenty of shade to prevent overheating.
Place part of the water enclosure in the shade.

Hope this helps

Thanks I wasnt sure if being albino the sun would hurt him but guess no choice as they do need the rays but will have plenty of shade area and sun area will be half of enclosure.

Thank you
