i have two cbb tokay geckos male and female. i was wondering if anyone would have any idea where i could find a size = age chart or if anyone could tell me how old a 7 1/2" tokay would be ballpark of course . i understand that they will have different rates of growth. when i bought them the were about 4 1/2" long and i didn't ask how old. when i called the breeder to ask him the age he couldn't tell me because he had shipped 10 of them to the pet store and they all were different ages. the only way to tell was a number that was on each of there individual dishes and by that time the dishes were well on their way to the recycleing center.as of now i know they are between 5 and 14 months old but that sorta leaves me in the dark. this wouldn't be so important if i were not wanting to breed them. but since i do it would help me out if i could get close. i think the female is older because she is slightly longer than the male but then again she could have been a cricket hog thanks in advance for your help

As far as I know there is no size-age chart ever made. But I could be wrong. . if there is one I've never seen it. As for the age of yours depends on how they where fed they are probably around 12-14 months old. Are you housing them together now? I'd probably wait till next year to breed them just to be safe. The male should be bigger than the female and there is still no guarantee that they will get along so watch them after you put them together. My male killed 2 girls before he accepted the one that is currently his mate. Good luck with them, Tokays are easy as hell to take care of and breed as long as there needs are met perfect. When they are breeding keep a hot spot around 90-95 with the cool end around 80 and they should breed like crazy.

Good luck,
Blake

thanks this morning i noticed when i got up that the male was hanging from the glass with just his front legs don't know what happened. when he moves he drags his back legs. ive heard of this in lizards that eat a food item that is to big but i', still feeding them 1/4" crickets and he's not impacted found that out the hard way when i picked him up. but other than the leg thing he's doing fine he doesn't look dull in any way his back isn't kinked when he's on the ground chasing crickets hell roll over on his side then lay there for a second and get up and go along his way. have any idea what it could be. i have the temps about the same as you said and they have been housed together for about 3 months now and doing fine sometimes he lays on her and sometimes she lays on him no agression the only thing i can figure is he fail from the top of his cage

OK you say hes dragging his back legs? Do you mean the dont work? Because that isnt something to be "ok" with he needs some help. . is there any way something could of fell on him? I'd take him to a vet or something because he needs to be looked at. Let me know what you find out. . it sounds like nerve damage.

they are useless they just dangle behind him there is nothing in his cage that can fall everything is glued with sealant the only other explanation i could think of is if he tried to breed the female and she attacked but there are no bite marks or any other external problems i just don't understand. one other thing that i noticed earlier is that he can still curl and move his tail around. i wonder if maybe he got his leg stuck in something or maybe he ate to many crickets and got impacted but he used the bathroom all over my hand which he has never done.if it is due to impaction i wonder if it will correct itself or if it's permanent. i called the vets in our town and surronding counties but no one deals with reptiles i had to take my ball python to a town about 100 miles away to be checked out when i bought him. i may get to take that trip again tommorow.

It would hurt to take him to the vet. I hope everything works out with it. Keep me posted.
