Red Eared Slider Lays Egg

pflyz Jul 18, 2007 02:49 PM

I found my red eared slider in my back yard in the hot summer in Goodyear Arizona, 30 miles west of Phoenix.

I got a tank and kept her. Named her Strawberry and about 1.5 years later we moved into a new house. Bigger. I then got Strawberry a bigger tank. She now lives in an 80 gallon paradise. Her shell is appx. 8 inches long and 5 to 6 inches wide.

She has always been in a cage for the last 3 years.

Last night I found a shattered egg in the bottom of the tank.

How could this be?

The same way you can get6 chickens and no roosters and still have them lay eggs.

nope they don't need a male to lay eggs, they're just not fertile
