Still not eating but....

weebeasties Jul 21, 2007 04:43 PM

She finally pooped!!! Ok ,I'm a bit excited over tortoise poop because it took 16 days of water and mineral oil in both ends to achieve this! I know she still has alot of gravel still inside to get rid of but at least it's starting to move. I am feeding her baby food squash with vitamins and pedialyte added (with a syringe!). She still won't eat on her own but with things starting to move I expect her appetite to come back. Her activity level is low but she is more aware of things so maybe we are on a up swing! Thanks to everyone for thier advice. I am still offering her alot of different things looking for that special item that will convince her life is worth eating for. She reminds me of a finicky cat...she'll sniff then turn her head! Thanks for your support!!

That is good news! Hope it continues to "move".

Have you tried letting her graze in the yard? The exercise, light and fresh air may help her appetite. My sulcata loves to wander all over the yard. Sometimes I take him to the park for a change of scenery, too.

Yep, she isn't moving much at all. Moved the most on the one day she pooped but otherwise she just sits. I've taken her outside, and have her under a good uvb inside. Its cool here so just leaving her out for a long time isn't ideal. But thanks for the thought. Doctor started her on a medicine to stimulate her digestive system. She just stared that yesterday so we will see.
