Hey tell me what you guys think of this Blue Tongue Skink art that i did.

Pretty good..though red as a background fill color..bad choice... Red is too 'hot' of a color for a background...reduces the subject (ie your blue tongue skink, which is itself, very nicely done) as the main point of interest. A more neutral or 'cooler' background (cooler being blues, greens, dark purples (ie more blue purple than red purple) would recede into the background, leaving the naturally warm colors of your BTS to stand out and catch the viewer's attention.
Right now, the first thing I see in your picture, is the red background with something dark in the middle..which I of course make out as your blue tongue skink...Of course the eye sees everything at once...but the brain registers the background first then the skink.
I hate to sound critical...but with such a nicely done blue tongue skink, its a shame to have the hard work done on it to be reduced by a badly chosen background color. I want to bring this to your attention so the next work you do, will be even better.

I dont think you understand the logic that i had behind that red. It was a piece that was inspired by the bold colors of Andy Warhol so i was going for abstract modern. Another reason for going with red is that red is the complementary color to blue and blue is the blue tongue skinks highlight which i wanted to make jump out. Cool colors are not necessarily limited to the background as painter Jonathan Buttall illustrated with his Blue Boy painting purposely disproving that warm colors must always be in the foreground and cools in the back.
I think it's awesome!
