Sulcatas living together ok?

gcalderon Jul 30, 2007 06:14 PM

I have 1 160 gram sulcata and im looking at getting another one around the same size. The cage they would be living in is about 7-8 square feet, 2 levels. How well would 2 sulcatas live together?

You'll have a better chance of them getting along if raised as babies together, but all in all Sulcatas do great as being the only tortoise. They actually do not need "friends" or other torts around them.

50/50 chance if they will get along or not. You may notice some ramming behavior or one trying to flip the other one over.

I'm still introducing my 2 year old to my 4 year old and I do it always under constant supervision.

Hope that helps a little.

I've got 3 living together. About a 16", 10" and 8". So far they get along great and don't pay any attention to each other. That may all change when they reach sexual maturity.

I brought another one in about 3 months ago and slowly introduced him in.

Later once together full time the new one which was a little bigger would flip the other BUT would sit back a min or so and then flip him back upright..

Now there is very little aggression between them at all..
