coiledbattalions Jul 31, 2007 02:31 PM

hey guys, im a snake guys myself and have been doin that for 10 years but my girlfriend just got a baby red ear, and naturally guess who ends up takin care of it lol...i did all the neccessary research and set it up in a small tank for now until i can get a bigger tank...but all temps are good and it has the right lighting...but anyway my question is this....if i took some lettuce and set it up so he could nibble at it woucld he do that...i kno if we give him certain things i would have to cut them into tiny pices like carrots for example...but i figure that since they love vegitation then he would nibble from the lettuce instead of me havin to cut it up...thanx for any help

They sell little clips with suction cups on it to put in the tank. I usually clip a piece of romaine on that and the hatchlings nibble on it. I also throw in some duck weed, and some floating plants from the pond and they love them.

Yes they will nibble at it, but you don't have to cut it up,, but they really don't get any nutrition from it, better off with broccoli or kale, mine like green beans better, no assparagus, they also really like live feeder fish, tuna fish, well they eat just about any thing,(there is a very small list of things they can't have) good luck
