I have 2 small snapping turtles (wild caught) and I am in the process of acquiring 2 diamondback terrapins. Do you think they can co-exist for the time-being? I need to house the dbts temporarily and then I will move them to my large turtle tank

how big are the snappers? ... and for how long? ... i had my snapper with all my other turtles for a while until he attacked the softshell ... he was about 3 inches or so when that happened
1 snapper is about an inch and the other is about 4 to 5 inches
Hello,
I have kept snappers with other turtles in ponds for years. They can be ravenous when in competition for food. You have to feed them first and with lots of food. Some smaller turtles can loose their heads if they try to compete with the larger snappers for food. Best to you- Mike
I agree with the post above, before i really knew what i was doing with Spike my CBB common snapper, i housed him with a slew of baby RES and uh, it wasnt pretty they came to fear him over night, he ate the heads off 2 of them one night and was moved to a much larger enclosure by himself he was mabey 2" at the time. Now he is arround 5" and lives in a 6"x5" pond in my front room where he happily eats rodent fuzzies, and misc fish.
