Grey tree frog questions

ishoe4gold Aug 02, 2007 04:11 PM

Hey everybody i got a few questions for yall. I have had reptiles all my life but i am new to frogs. Recently while i was at a buddies house, we tore down an old above ground swimming pool. There were hundreds of these little frogs and tadpoles in it. From what i have seen and read i think they are grey tree frogs. Well, i have four little nephews that love frogs. I brought home about 20 of these frogs. I am planning on fixing up a terrarium for them and giving it to my nephews so that they can have something to take care of. I have no idea on how to fix one up for frogs. If anyone could post some pics of their setups and give me any info on how to properly care for them it would be greatly appreciated. So far they are in a 20 gallon long aquarium with aquaruim gravel as a substrate and some fake plants. I have been feeding them small crickets so far. Thanks

Really I don't agree with taking them out of nature. Depending on where you are from, they may be cubans as well, which get huge and eat a lot.

In general if you want to use the 20L you would need to turn it on its end to make it tall, but with it being 12x12 on the ends it's kind of small floor space as well.

A better setup would be a 20H, gravel is fine but it needs to be covered in a layer of bed-a-beast or eco-earth, gravel is too coarse for their delicate skin.

Plants like pothos are cheap and grow fast and without any UV. You can use cocoa panels on the walls and have plants grow up them (creeping fig etc).

Make sure you treat the water (they need a soaking dish) and dust the crickets. Babies should eat every day, juvies every other, adults every 2-3 days.

You also need temp and humidity gauges. Find the correct ranges on a care sheet.
