New Glossy Snake Feeding Pics...

MikeFedzen Aug 05, 2007 04:19 AM

Finally got around to taking pics of this guy eating with an actual camera, not a camera phone...
He still feeds like a kingsnake.
He grows as slow as dirt though.

Great pics. You really get to see his colors. They are slow growers though which is good cuz I get to keep her in a 5gal for a while. How big is that snake? If I get a better camera I'll take some pics of my WC Lancaster Mojave Glossy female (I'm guessing '06; last years hatch). I got her cruising April 1 of this year. She eats 2 pinks @ feeding time and is really fiesty (biting/striking). I'm guessing my female's only around a foot long.

That snake is around 20".
It doesn't bite.
But when I open the cage it knows mice are coming. :]

how are they in terms of handling? make a good "starter" small T?
some nice morph potential in that snake, although they look good enough as they are that they don't need to be "modified" nice looking animal mike, keep it up

This snake never once tried to bite me.
Or musk, or defecate on me.
Doesn't struggle too.

So I consider them good as a starter for Small Terrestrial Snakes.

Especially once they get onto mice.

I second Mike's opinion. Glossies definitely deserve their shot in the pet trade. I love these snakes and hope to explore those "morph possibilities" in the near future. I've yet to have difficult time getting one on mice. My larger female handles great, and I handled the smaller female last night. She was quite calm. Looks like she's "taming" down.
