Here's one of the 4 western racers I caught up in the East Cascade mountains in California. In the past 10 years out herping, I have only seen 1 juvenile racer (though plenty of gophers, kings, ringnecks, rattlers etc. just this year I have seen maybe a dozen while hiking about the lake fly-fishing. I had no idea this lake had them, and I've fished it for a decade!
I love the turquise on the sides what awesome little snakes. I think I might have to try my hand at these one of these days.
Yeah, kinda pastel colors throughout. They are beauties.
