So I found this gecko in my camera bag..

aero_tiff Aug 16, 2007 04:14 PM

...and it scared the crap out of me, I think the last thing I expected was a baby gecko to leap out of my camera bag and onto my computer. I chased it around for a while, and it's housed in my tiny plastic container until I determine if it came from outside and will survive if I put it back out there.
I'm down in Miami, I'm sure it came from outside but... it doesn't look like any of the geckos we have around here. Justin says it looks tokay shaped, and we do have invasive tokays here. Well, it's up to you guys now, I'll post this message in "Lizards: What kind?" also. S/he is only about 1.5" long!! So CUUUUUTE...
Thanks all,
~Tiff

I also live in south Fla. and these guys are everywhere. They are pretty hard to keep at that size......they fed on small ants and larvae as I have watched in our yard.

Actually, that is Hemidactylus mabouia - an invasive species from West Africa.

tropical house gecko- they live there so it's ok to put it back outside. you don't really see them a lot so i can see where you're commin from. they are nocturnal and hide during the day and come out at night.
