New Enclosure Too Scary?

LaurenMc Aug 22, 2007 07:14 AM

I moved my CWD from his old glass tank into a 6ftx3ftx3ft enclosure last week. He acts as though it is too scary to move around in there. He doesn't go down to his water bowl. I have a dripper going so he can get water high up though. He doesn't seem interested in food but if a cricket happens by he'll eat it. I elevated the food dish butthere's not much missing. He's stayed on one branch and didn't move at all for the last 24 hours. I'm thinking maybe I should move him back. Should I wait a couple weeks and see if he adjusts? Any advice would be appreciated!

Just give him time. He's in a new enclosure, he's going to be nervous about it because he has no idea what's in it, and is in a new spot. He'll eventually move around and find out there's nothing wrong and start being his normal self. Just make sure to have some food in there in case he does decide to eat. I'm building a 6x4x5 enclosure for 2 basilisk, i'm sure they're going to take a week or 2 to get used to it.

Thanks for the reply. He seems to be coming around now. There's been some mealworms missing from his food bowl. He may even have been down to his water tub. Hopefully he'll continue to adjust.
