Will they Eat It?

dydy4jamaica Aug 29, 2007 12:11 PM

Im Putting a Cage together for Two CWD's, and im thinking about putting bonsai plants in with the rest of the set up, im doin a set up where i have some model temple and city ruins that looks jungle over grown with moss and fake vines and a "flooded" end that has a broken sphinx as the "temple" partially submerged with some tethered floating wood, jus in case the dragons decide to climb out of the water. im putting in a sprinkler system on the land end and water fall on the water end. the CWD's are 10-12 inch juveniles and im not sure if they would try to eat the live plants that i would put in. what plants would be safe or perfect to put in?

Hi Jim, cwds are aboreal and prefer to hang out in branches most of the time. Do not submerse the whole tank! Also, they will probably tear up any nice bonzaii trees, so go with ficus, and any number of safe plants.

thanks for the info, and im not gonna submerge the entire tank....us a little less than half its a 50 gallon tank and im gonna extend it up wards some more so that the cwd's have climbing space i will post up pics of the final product when im done.

nope, but they might crush it, Water dragons really aren't the best canidates for a natural viv. plus bonsai's are $$$ so you might want to use some other plant like a snake plant or a pothos plant.
