Not necessarily banned, Albinos and other abberations are still legal to sell ( exhibit, export, or reasearch; You know the deal ) as hatchlings. Normals however aren't. I was just at the FWC website reading a short memmo about the whole thing. It was vague as to whether you could still sell them up and over 4" though.

Yes and No.

It is now illegal to sell a "normal phase" red-eared slider in Florida, except to licensed dealers who then re-sell out of state or breed and sell out of state.

If you live in FL and already have a RES, then you're OK - but make sure you have fencing or planking burried at least 6" below ground if you have a backyard pond with sliders. HOWEVER, you CANNOT breed your normal color phase sliders. It will be illegal to own a normal phase RES under 4" after January 1st, 2008.

Normal phase sliders can no longer be imported into FL unless going to a licensed dealer (most likely a commercial breeder/wholesaler). If you're trying to bring in your slider as part of a household move, contact Jenny Novak, Division of Habitat and Species Conservation, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, 620 S. Meridian St., Tallahassee, FL 32301, or at jenny.novak@MyFWC.com or (850) 926-0128.

Color morphs (pastels, carmels, albinos, ect.) of red-eared sliders may still be traded, sold, and bred in the state of Florida.

This was to keep the non-native Red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) from interbreeding with native Yellowbellied sliders (T. scripta scripta) of Florida.

This went into affect on July 1st, 2007.

Yes its illegal for a pet store or dealer to sell them however go by Miami beach and you can find them by the hundreds with outside vendors (van vendors) as laws there dont seem to be enforced .

Like others here said you can buy albinos, Yellow sliders, etc just not the red ears.
