Red eyed tree frog habitats?

chelsea_mae Sep 02, 2007 08:48 AM

I am looking to buy some red eyed tree frogs for my mothers friend and her children. They are all obsessed with these beautiful creatures and I thought it'd be a cool christmas present. Does anyone have any pictures of your habitat? Or a list of what kind of things should be in their habitat? It sure would help me out a lot! Thanks for your time!

I don't at all recommend these for kids. Kids want to hold them and you just can't. They stress easily and die. Also most are wild caught and have high mortality rates, most not making it more than a week or two. If anything they would need to be captive bred. You'd need to find a breeder, at a show or something.

I just answered this same type question on talkto.thefrog.org You may want to check that thread as it was quite long and I'd rather not retype it!

giving live stuff for a holiday isn't always the best idea. ask the mom first. then, make sure the frogs will be taken care of properly, if the mom really wanted one, wouldn't she allready have gotton some. if you do decide to get them some frogs, do your reserch and make sure those frogs are being well taken care of.
