gothicruler Sep 08, 2007 05:21 AM

I have recently got a male pacman frog and i have been on various internet sites and they all state different things on when to clean a pacman frog out. Can anyone shed any light on this matter? I have been told every 3 weeks by the pet shop i bought him from

You can seem to get away with alot of things when regarding to the pacman, but it would be best to change the water or try and scoop up the droppings everytime it defecates. This all depends on how your setup is as well. If it is sitting in a shallow dish of water, everytime. If in a large tank filled with peat moss, possibly every three weeks. But if you can tell that your pac is just sitting in it constantly, you might wanna try and clean it out for him/her. I know I wouldnt want to live in a pile of crap, but you should see my room ;D

they look like dark brown clumps. If it goes in the water the poop might break down and just turn the water cloudy so you should change the water then. It wouldn't hurt to get your new pacman a 10 gallon tank, but at this stage the plastic tank would be fine. As a little guy they might hop around here and there but as they get older and bigger, they become sluggish and just tend to sit there (ambush predators). Just make sure the water level isnt too deep because they cant swim. I have many pacmans and they are alot of fun!

i have another problem on my hands now i think my little gaston is actually a she as he has no black beard,(as i have read on the internet males have these) he is still very young tho.Can anyone tell me how to sex my frog properly? also if he lunges for me is his bite gonna hurt...lol

as a baby their bites wont hurt but as they get bigger it could. as far as sexing, it is hard to tell as a baby whether you have a boy or a girl. That dark throat method applies to pacmans that are about 2 inches wide and bigger. Its still too hard to tell as babies. There is also another method that you may find on the internet that says that you can sex a baby by spraying it with water (pissing it off). If it croaks when it leaps at you its a male. That method is false. Females croak too when threatened. I was told about these things from a pacman breeder so your best bet would be to name your frog a boy and girl name :D
