Mud Snake, but sad news. DOR

I was at Outer Banks, NC last week and took a little drive across the sound over to Dare co. Not long after driving, I saw a snake on the road and we stopped the car. When I got to him, it was a gorgeous mud snake. Sadly, it had been hit sometime earlier that day. These guys are really beautiful, and it was my first mud snake find in the field.
