Baby Snapper Won't Eat?

Rkonrad Sep 09, 2007 01:11 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I am writing because I have a Florida Snapper hatchling who is very un-interested in eating.

He is in a nice little enclosure-- waterfall, rocks to climb on, aquatic cover (foliage)-- and there are tiny rosy reds swimming all around.

I tried to feed him a rosy red, no dice. I left a small piece of fresh krill on a rock, nothing. I put two turtle pellets in the water near him, he's not biting.

He is basically brand new (I brought him home last night), but I figured he would have a baby's appetite. Should I be nervous? What suggestions do you have?

Thanks
Bob

It took mine about 4 days. I put mine in a small container with the food. That way he can't help but notice it and it keeps his regular container much cleaner. I'll feed him in the morning and then clean it out when I get home.

Thanks for the reply.

I came home today and one of the rosy reds was missing. I decided to test his appetite and he did not disappoint-- two baby turtle sticks, one piece of krill, one small piece of chicken.

He's a happy boy now.
