My Red Ear won't eat

Noxale Sep 11, 2007 09:45 PM

I just got a Red-Eared Slider from Boston a few days ago and I can't get him to eat the "Floating Turtle Gammarus Pellets" that I bought for him. Should I try natural foods instead of the pellets or is he just in a phase because he just moved in and will eventually start eating?

it helped me to keep the water at 78 degrees and feed it the frozen shrimp from the petstore. good luck! and try to read as much info on them as possible.

He's actually eating this morning but thanks for the advice anyway, I'll have to try frozen shrimp sometime soon.

He might just be a little disoriented. My turtles stop eating a few days whenever I change things aroun in the tank they're in. I wouldn't worry too much. Just use a variety of foods, they'll get hungry eventually and get what they need.

Water temps are the only way to really boost it's food intake. With lower temps it'll eat far less. Get a heater.

I think he would eventually eat the pellets, But if u want it to eat soon i would buy heathy feeders.

How big is your tank? What's his set up like? Where did you get him? It could be a million different things, so as much info as you have would be helpful in getting to the bottom of this problem.
